A car bomb killed at least three people and injured 2 others in the heart of the Somali capital Saturday, police and medical sources said.
The car bomb which was parked outside a shopping center on Maka Almukarramah road was detonated as shoppers were busy making shopping.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Al-Qaeda linked militant group often carries out such attacks.
Police officials said that the bombing occurred moments after gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying the commissioner for Galgadud region Hussein Weheliye Irfo who survived the attempted drive-by shooting.
Al-shabab continues to carry out attacks against the government and the African union forces protecting it.
