Saturday 8, March 2025 {HMC} The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with local forces, killed more than 20 Khawarij militants during a fierce battle in the Boos Hareeri area of the Middle Shabelle region. The operation, which successfully repelled an attempted attack by the Khawarij, marks a major victory in the ongoing campaign to secure the country.
According to military officials, the Khawarij militias attempted to launch an assault on the area but were met with a swift and decisive response from Somali forces. The SNA and local fighters inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy, eliminating nearly 20 infiltrators, including senior leaders of the terrorist group.
In addition to the casualties, the Somali forces seized vehicles and military equipment from the militants, further weakening their operational capabilities. This successful operation is part of the broader efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia to liberate areas under the control of extremist groups and restore peace and stability to the region.
“The Somali National Army, with the support of the Somali people, remains fully committed to eliminating the enemies of peace and development. This victory in Boos Hareeri is a testament to the bravery and determination of our forces,” a military spokesperson stated.
The operation underscores the growing effectiveness of the SNA and its collaboration with local forces in combating terrorism. It also reflects the government’s sustained efforts to dismantle extremist networks and reclaim territories held by the Khawarij.
The Federal Government of Somalia has intensified its military campaign against Al-Shabaab in recent months, with significant gains reported in various regions. The latest victory in Middle Shabelle is expected to bolster morale among security forces and civilians alike, as the nation continues its fight against extremism.
As the Somali National Army advances in its mission, the government has called for continued public support and cooperation to ensure the complete eradication of terrorist elements and the restoration of lasting peace across the country.
