Wednesday 12 ,March 2025 {HMC} At least six people were killed on Tuesday morning when Al-Shabaab, a militant group, stormed Hotel Al-Mu’min in Beledweyne, central Somalia.
They started the attack by detonating a car bomb before forcing their way into the hotel, leading to intense gunfire between the attackers and security forces.
Police initially confirmed four dead, but witnesses later reported that the death toll had risen to ten.
Among the dead were Elder Raho Raaxa Jeket, Elder Mohamed Osman Ileyna, Adan Mohamed Alasow Indhabur, and an officer named Galaangashe.
The raid on the hotel was ongoing while officials were meeting to advance an offensive against the group in central Somalia.
The militant group claims that it has killed more than 10 people in their attack.
The city of Beledweyne is located about 335km (208 miles) north of Mogadishu and is a strategically important town for agenda against al-Shabab.
