Monday 5,may 2025 {HMC} The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has reiterated his government’s promise to foster domestic production as a vital vehicle to unlock socio-economic growth, as well as achieving food self-sufficiency within the country.
The Prime Minister made this declaration during the official opening ceremony of the National Conference on Food and Agricultural Investment, during which he discussed the major challenges in terms of the inability to produce agricultural outputs locally, and subsequently called on Somali youths in particular Entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Somalia’s agricultural sector in order to reduce the over reliance on imported agricultural products. The Prime Minister explained we can meet the demand of local industries and lay the foundation for food security domestically simply by growing the products locally instead.
As part of the program, The Prime Minister listened to Somali youth make presentations of their innovations in agriculture. He called upon youths across the country to study agricultural sciences and contribute to a self suffisicing, productive generation.
