Wednesday 4 June 2025 {HMC} The Federal Republic of Somalia conveys its sincere congratulations to the brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain, its government, and people on its election on Tuesday by the United Nations General Assembly in New York as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, representing the Asian Group in this vital international forum.

As a current member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025–2026 term, following its election on June 6, 2024, the Federal Republic of Somalia welcomes the Kingdom of Bahrain’s election for the 2026–2027 term and looks forward to enhancing bilateral cooperation on shared priorities, including the support of Arab and Islamic positions, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

The Federal Republic of Somalia also extends warm congratulations to the Republic of Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Latvia, and the Republic of Liberia on their election as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for two-year terms beginning in January 2026 and reaffirms its commitment to strengthen cooperation with these friendly nations in promoting international peace, security, and stability.
