Sunday 27,July .2025 {HMC} The Al-Shabaab militant group reportedly entered Mahas district in the Hiiraan region after heavy fighting with Somali National Army (SNA) and local militia forces on Sunday morning.
Government and local forces withdrew from the town after the militants launched an attack that began with suicide bombings outside the area.

Military commanders told the media that they inflicted casualties on the militants during the attack but did not provide specific figures.
Sunday’s assault comes as hundreds of Hawadle Ma’awisley fighters and SNA forces have been preparing large-scale military operations against the Al-Shabaab group in parts of Hiiraan.
