Tuesday ,Oct 14, 2025 {HMC} Today in Mogadishu, the Deputy SRCC Amb. Moukhtar Osman Kaire, met with a delegation from the European Union led by EU Ambassador to Somalia, Francesca Di Mauro.
Amb. Kaire briefed the delegation on the financial challenges affecting the African Union peace support mission and their impact on operations.
He also provided an update on the security situation and ongoing joint military operations against Al Shabaab and other armed groups.
Discussions also covered the extension of the AUSSOM Burundi Contingent’s deployment and its planned replacement by Egyptian forces, as well as AUSSOM’s phased planning and the respective roles of its military, police, and civilian components in advancing peacebuilding in Somalia.
Present at the meeting were AUSSOM Force Commander Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma and Police Commissioner Hillary Sao Kanu.
