Tuesday 10 Feb 2026 {HMC} The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Farah Nuh, conducted an immediate site inspection at Aden Adde International Airport on Tuesday following the runway excursion incident involving a passenger aircraft. The Minister led a delegation of senior officials and security personnel to the crash site where the plane had come to rest in the shallow waters adjacent to the runway.
Upon assessing the scene, Minister Mohamed Farah Nuh officially confirmed that there were no fatalities resulting from the accident. He commended the rapid response of the emergency services, which ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members aboard. While the aircraft itself sustained structural damage during the landing attempt, the Minister emphasized that the priority remains the safety of the passengers, all of whom were accounted for without serious injury.
During the visit, the Minister announced that a comprehensive technical investigation is already underway to determine the precise cause of the malfunction that forced the emergency return and subsequent crash. He assured the public that the findings would be transparent and that the ministry is committed to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety at the nation’s primary gateway.
