President Hassan Sheikh Hosts Puntland Elders to Strengthen Cooperation and Stability

Saturday 11 April 2026 {HMC}  The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has hosted a welcoming ceremony for a delegation of Puntland elders at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.

The delegation included Beeldaaje Mohamed Beldaje Ismail, Beldaje Ismail Beldaje Yasin, Sultan Mursal, Sultan Mohamud Haji Abdullahi, and other distinguished traditional leaders.

The meeting focused on addressing the needs of the regions and strengthening cooperation between the public and government institutions, with an emphasis on advancing stability and sustainable development.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud underscored the important role of traditional leaders in promoting unity, peacebuilding, and community engagement across the country. He highlighted the government’s commitment to working closely with elders to support reconciliation efforts and improve service delivery.

The elders, in turn, discussed key priorities and expressed their readiness to contribute to national efforts aimed at consolidating peace and fostering development.

The engagement reflects ongoing consultations between the Federal Government and traditional leadership structures to enhance unity and strengthen governance across Somalia.
