Saturday 14 Feb 2026 {HMC} The Acting President of the Republic and Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), today received a high-level delegation from the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) at his office in Mogadishu.
The delegation was led by the Secretary General of ALECSO, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir; the Chairperson of the Social Service Development Committee of the House of the People, MP Nadra Salah Abdi; and the Secretary General of the House of the People, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Cabdulle (Jaabiri).
Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in education, culture, and scientific research. The ALECSO delegation briefed the Acting President and Speaker on the organization’s activities in Somalia and its ongoing collaboration with national educational institutions. They highlighted progress made in supporting academic development, cultural preservation, and research initiatives.
H.E. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur expressed appreciation for ALECSO’s continued engagement in Somalia, commending its role in promoting education, safeguarding cultural heritage, and advancing research. He urged the delegation to further strengthen its support, particularly in improving the quality of education, expanding research opportunities, and enhancing the knowledge and skills of Somalia’s younger generation.
The meeting reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to deepening partnerships with regional and international institutions to advance education and cultural development as pillars of national progress.
