Tuesday ,Oct 14, 2025 {HMC} AUSSOM Kenya Defence Forces troops in Sector II today marked KDFDay, observed annually on 14 October to commemorate the Kenya Defence Forces’ 2011 entry into Somalia under Operation Linda Nchi to combat Al-Shabaab.
Led by Sector II Commander Brig. Edward Banda, troops across the sector honoured fallen heroes through prayers, cultural performances, and sports.
Brig. Banda read a message from CDF Gen. Charles Kahariri, urging troops to remain steadfast in fulfilling the AUSSOM mandate.
A parallel event in Dhobley, led by Col. Maurice Wasomi, featured tree planting and calls for discipline, patriotism, and unity.
Similar commemorations took place in Afmadhow, Hoosingow, Beles Qoqaani, Tabda, Kismayo New Airport, and the Seaport TOB — joined by the UN, Sierra Leone FPU, Somali Security Forces, and Jubaland Civil Aviation.
