Saturday 30, Aug 2025 {HMC} President Abdiqadir Ahmed Ali Firdhiye has won the presidency of the North Eastern State of Somalia, after the candidate Abdirisaq Khalif Ahmed, who was to compete in the second round, gave up the election.
Abdirisaaq Khalif’s compromise came after the candidate Jamal Mohamed Hassan, who remained in the first round, transferred his votes to President Firdhiye, which killed Abdirisaaq Khalif’s hope in the second round of the election.
However, President Firdhiye will once again lead the new administration, having been fortunate enough to remain in office for a period of 5 years.
On the other hand, the election of the vice president has now been held, and Abwan Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril, who was the former chairman of the Puntland Parliament, is likely to win.
President Firdhiye and Abwan Abdirashid, who are on the same side, were already predicted to win the election of the new administration, and it is known that they were two candidates promoted by the Eastern Federal Government.
This election was the completion of the process of building a new administration in North East Somalia, which has been under construction in the city of Lasanod since July.
