Saturday 07 Feb 2026 {HMC} Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today held a high-level meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America to Somalia, Ambassador Justin Davis, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.
The discussions centered on security and counter-terrorism efforts, where the Somali government, in partnership with international allies, has recorded significant successes.
Prime Minister Hamza briefed Ambassador Davis on the progress made in stabilizing liberated areas and the ongoing fight against extremist groups.
He also highlighted the pivotal role of the United States in training, equipping, and professionalizing Somalia’s National Security Forces.
Clearing extremist forces from our agricultural lands is essential for Somalia to secure sustainable development, attract investment, and achieve food self-sufficiency.”” the Prime Minister noted.
Ambassador Justin Davis commended Somalia’s continued achievements in security, political, and electoral processes.
He reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to supporting the Somali government and people through security, military, and humanitarian assistance.
He also reiterated full U.S. support for the unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The meeting also addressed the severe humanitarian crisis caused by prolonged drought.
Prime Minister Hamsa outlined the government’s comprehensive public-government consultation plan to assist affected communities and emphasized the need for international support, led by the United States, to deliver timely relief to millions of Somali citizens.
