Thursday 14, Aug 2025 {HMC} Somalia’s armed forces court today executed three men who were found guilty of belonging to Al-Shabaab and being part of insecurity activities that caused death by firing squad.
The men who were sentenced to death today were Abukar Ahmed Mohamed Anwar, Hamsa Jeilani Abdullahi Abtiga, and Hassan Ali Hussein Garad, all of whom were said to have been members of Al-Shabaab and committed murders and bombings in Mogadishu and Lower Shabelle.
The execution site in Mogadishu where the Al-Shabaab men were executed was attended by military officers from the Somali Military Court.
However, this execution comes just days after two Al-Shabaab militants were executed in Mogadishu.
Finally, the Federal Government of Somalia appears to have begun to execute death sentences against prisoners who have been sentenced to death by the Al-Shabaab group.
