Somali President reaffirms solidarity with Qatar at Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit.

Tuesday September 16, 2025 {HMC} Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud reaffirmed Somalia’s solidarity with the government and people of Qatar following the Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Doha last week.

Speaking at the emergency summit of Arab and Islamic leaders held in Doha on Monday, President Hassan Sheikh stressed that the attack represented a violation against all Arab nations.

Underscoring the importance of unity and cooperation among Arab and Islamic countries, the President highlighted Somalia’s historic stance of unwavering support for the Palestinian people in the face of oppression and occupation.
He called for unified action to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, emphasizing the urgent need to uphold international law and implement United Nations resolutions to end Israel’s acts of aggression and safeguard regional stability.

The emergency summit was convened after fury swept the region following Israeli strikes on September 9, which killed six people.

The extraordinary joint session between the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) brought together nearly 60 member states. Leaders said the meeting marked a critical moment to deliver a united message following what they described as an unprecedented escalation by Israel.

The Israeli attack targeted senior Hamas leaders who were meeting to discuss a United States-backed ceasefire proposal. At least six people were killed in the strike, which has drawn condemnation from around the world, including Arab and Muslim countries.
