Tuesday 09, Dec 2025 {HMC} The Federal Republic of Somalia and the State of Qatar held the inaugural meeting of their Joint High Committee on Monday in Doha, highlighting their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Somalia was led by H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, while Qatar was led by H.E. Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, as both sides engaged in high-level discussions to expand collaboration and promote strategic partnerships across governance, economic development, youth programs, and cultural exchange.
During the meeting, the sides evaluated existing cooperation and discussed ways to advance the bilateral partnership to broader horizons in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement on mutual administrative assistance for the effective implementation of customs laws and combating customs violations, a memorandum of understanding on youth cooperation, a memorandum on agricultural and food security collaboration between Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Somalia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, and a memorandum on cultural cooperation.
