Somalia Urges Gaza Ceasefire and Aid Access at OIC Emergency Meeting.

Jeddah, 25 August 2025 {HMC} The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, addressed on Monday the emergency ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

In his remarks, Minister Abdisalam Abdi highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, including famine, displacement, and the effects of military operations. He reiterated Somalia’s support for a two-state solution and emphasized the need to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state.

Minister Abdisalam Abdi praised international mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, as well as initiatives from the New York High-Level Conference, aimed at achieving a ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian access, and pursuing a long-term political solution.

The Minister further stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of all OIC member states, including Somalia, noting that adherence to these principles is essential for regional stability, cooperation, and justice, including support for the Palestinian cause.
