Cargo plane crashes in Jowhar Airport.

Saturday 9,March, 2024 {HMC} A cargo plane carrying food supplies and a group of trainers for the ATMIS mission crashed on Saturday at Jowhar airport after veering off the runway.

The manager of Jowhar Airport, Mukhtar Abukar, told local media that there were no casualties; both the passengers and supplies were safely evacuated from the plane.

He added that the plane providing logistics services to the ATMIS troops had departed from Uganda en route to the ATMIS troops in Hirshabelle State.

“The plane sustained damage, but fortunately, there were no casualties. Furthermore, the accident did not disrupt the smooth operation of Jowhar airport,” he noted.

The reason for the crash remains unknown as the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has yet to comment on the incident.
