Sunday, 20,Sep 2025 {HMC} The Egyptian government has reaffirmed its full support for the Somali people, expressing its commitment to assisting Somalia in its efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release that Egypt is actively participating in the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). The mission is designed to build the capacity of the Somali government to fully assume responsibility for the country’s security and achieve its goal of a stable and prosperous future.
A statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that these statements reflect the critical situation in the Horn of Africa region, as well as the ongoing developments in Somalia, especially the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia to strengthen order, rule of law and combat terrorism.
Egypt has particularly stressed its deep historical ties with Somalia, and pledged to continue its political, security, and development support to Somalia. This support is crucial at this time, as Somalia is in a transitional phase of building a strong state and countering security threats posed by extremist groups such as Al-Shabaab and ISIS.
