Friday 3 Oct , 2025 {HMC} The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has ordered security agencies to ban the movement of military vehicles in Mogadishu, other than those belonging to government security agencies.
The President accused some opposition politicians of disrupting security in the capital, noting that the Federal Government has made great efforts to restore stability and public confidence in Mogadishu.
“We have worked tirelessly to ensure the security of this city. There has been a full month without a single incident of insecurity. Therefore, we will not accept anyone driving military vehicles through the city,” said President Hassan Sheikh.
The President strongly condemned the recent attack at the Warta Nabadda police station, saying that if government forces had not shown restraint, a major disaster could have occurred there.
He accused the opposition of not considering the potential consequences of the military clash and the impact it could have on prisoners held at the base for various crimes, including those linked to Al-Shabaab and some accused of rape.
The remarks were part of a speech the president delivered at the Presidential Palace mosque, where he spoke about the current situation in the country.
