Somalia and Egypt expect important agreements.

Cairo, January 23, 2025 {HMC} The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi held an important meeting at the Federal Palace in Cairo.

At this meeting, the presidents agreed to upgrade the relationship between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership, which reflects strengthening the historic relationship between the countries and ways to develop the fields of education, justice, politics, security, communications and economy.

Regarding education, Egyptian universities, especially Azhar Sharif University, are working to increase scholarships and training for Somali students and professionals, in order to develop different knowledge and skills.

The presidents also agreed to accelerate cooperation between the institutions of the two countries, especially the judiciary and security. Egypt has shown how it stands by the government and the Somali people in the war against terrorism.

President Hassan Sheikh and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Foreign Ministers of Somalia and Egypt on the exemption of the Somali diplomatic passports campaign from visas, to strengthen diplomatic cooperation between the two governments, and the parties discussed ways to facilitate internal movement for all citizens of the two countries, and to remove obstacles to immigration procedures and passports.

The presidents stressed the importance of this cooperation in strengthening relations between the two countries, and the joint committees in Somalia and Egypt responsible for implementing these agreements for expediting the vision of brotherly cooperation between the two countries.
