Tuesday 2, Sep, 2025 {HMC} – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, met on Monday in Belgrade with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly Republic of Serbia, H.E. Marko Djuric, and discussed with him ways to enhance bilateral relations and promote cooperation in key sectors.

The meeting touched on strengthening collaboration in areas including economy, agriculture, construction, and education, as well as advancing joint initiatives within international forums. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to building on longstanding ties and pursuing shared interests.

The Somali Foreign Minister said, “We discussed bilateral relations and global issues, reaffirming the decades-long friendship between Somalia and Serbia.” On his side, the Serbian Foreign Minister emphasized his country’s decades-long friendship with Somalia.

“Serbia is proud of its traditionally good relations with Somalia and is firmly committed to further deepening cooperation across multiple fields,” Djuric said.

Mondey , 1 September, 2025 (Hmc) The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), today opened the retreat of the Standing Committee, which will continue for three days.

In his opening remarks, Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) informed members that the retreat will last three days, during which the agenda for the seventh parliamentary session will be set. He urged the Standing Committee to accelerate discussions on the agenda items and to give special priority to laws critical to advancing state-building in the country.

During the retreat, members of the committee will deliberate on the agenda of the seventh session, including unfinished bills from the sixth session as well as new draft laws submitted by the government.

Mondey , 1 September, 2025 (Hmc)    An earthquake in Afghanistan’s east has killed at least 610 people, injured 1,300 and destroyed numerous villages, a spokesman for the Taliban government said Monday.

The 6.0 magnitude quake late Sunday hit a series of towns in the province of Kunar, near the city of Jalalabad in neighboring Nangahar province, causing extensive damage.

The quake at 11:47 p.m. was centered 27 kilometers (17 miles) east-northeast of the city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It was just 8 kilometers (5 miles) deep. Shallower quakes tend to cause more damage.

Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Matin Qani confirmed the casualty figures to the Associated Press, saying the late-night quake killed 610 people and injured 1,300 in Kunar. Many houses were destroyed.

In Nangarhar, a dozen people died and hundreds were injured, said Qani.

“Rescue operations are still underway there, and several villages have been completely destroyed. The figures for martyrs and injured are changing. Medical teams from Kunar, Nangarhar and the capital Kabul have arrived in the area,” said Sharafat Zaman, a spokesman for the ministry of public health.

Mondey , 1 September, 2025 (Hmc)  The Military Court this morning executed by firing squad Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, known as “Maaxi Yoonis,” and Ibrahim Adan Maadey,AS militants who had previously been sentenced to death.

The two were members of AS  units responsible for ambushes and assassinations in Mogadishu, where they carried out targeted killings against prominent members of the community.
