President Hassan Arrives in Djibouti for Talks with President Guelleh.
Saturday 26,July 2025 {HMC} The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has arrived in Djibouti’s capital for an official visit aimed at strengthening ties with the neighboring Republic of Djibouti.
During his visit, President Mohamud will hold talks with his counterpart, H.E. President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, focusing on enhancing the longstanding relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries. Discussions will center on key areas including security, economic collaboration, political coordination, and efforts to promote regional stability.
Morocco to Spend $4.2 Billion on Airport Expansion for 2030 World Cup.
Saturday 26,July 2025 {HMC} Morocco said on Thursday it will spend 38 billion dirhams ($4.2 billion) over the next five years to overhaul its main airports, ahead of the World Cup it will cohost with Portugal and Spain.
An agreement was signed to that end between the Moroccan government and the airports authority ONDA, the government said in a statement.
Under the deal, 25 billion dirhams will be allocated to airport expansion and 13 billion dirhams will go to maintenance and land acquisition.
The government plans to expand its airport capacity to 80 million passengers by 2030 from 38 million currently.
In May, Morocco issued two expressions of interest to identify bidders for its plan to build a new terminal that will increase capacity at its largest airport in Casablanca by 20 million passengers.
Morocco reported a record 17.4 million visitors last year, up 20% from 2023, and it expects to attract 26 million tourists in 2030.

African Union troops announce operation against AS.
Saturday 26,July 2025 {HMC} A press release from the African Union Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) addressed the heavy fighting that occurred on Friday in the Sabib and Aanoole areas of the Lower Shabelle region.
The mission stated that it had repelled the attack, which began with explosions, and confirmed that it remains in control of the contested areas.
AUSSOM also confirmed that operations against al-Shabaab (AS) are ongoing to ensure public safety in Sabib and Aanoole, in coordination with the Somali Armed Forces.
“We are conducting operations to ensure general security in Sabib and Aanoole. We have killed many AS members and seized weapons,” the AUSSOM statement said.
The statement added that broader operations will be launched to drive AS out of all areas they control in the Lower Shabelle region.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Somalia said it had successfully defended against the AS attack in Sabib and Aanoole, and emphasized that security efforts are ongoing.
Casualties have been reported from the fighting, although official figures have not been independently verified.
