Monday November 10, 2025 (HMC) The Somali National Armed Forces have conducted a series of operations across parts of the Bakool and Bay regions, killing several senior members of the AS  terror group, the Defense Ministry announced in a statement on Sunday.

The ministry said that Somali forces killed Mohamed Abdi Mohamed Nur, also known as Goofoow, a senior terror group member who was responsible for several attacks on civilians in the region.

He was killed in a precision operation in Abal village, a strategic village located 21 kilometers (13 miles) south of Hudur, the provincial capital of the southwestern Bakool region, it added.

“During the operation, the forces also seized weapons and documents detailing plots intended to disrupt security and stability in the area,” the statement said.

In a separate military operation, two key As  operatives, Yahye, also known as Abu Khalid, a key organizer of terrorist attacks, and Sharif Amir, were killed, it also said.

According to the statement, Amir was injured and later died as a result of the severe injuries sustained during the engagement.

It said the Somali military will continue to conduct operations against the group and that “no safe haven will be allowed for AS  terrorists or their remnants.”

The ongoing operations to stabilize the Horn of Africa country will be intensified “until every corner of Somalia is freed from the threat of terrorism,” the statement added.

The military operations come just days after Somalia announced that 220 precision airstrikes had been conducted against terrorists, with 868 of them killed since February this year.

Since late 2024, the Somali National Army and security forces in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland have increased air raids against terrorists in the south and central provinces, as well as the northeastern Bari region, with the support of international security partners.

A precision airstrike in Middle Juba’s Bu’aale town killed a senior AS  terrorist late last month, identified as Mohamud Abdi Hamud, also known as Jacfar Gurey, a founding member of the al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group who served as the group’s so-called “intelligence chief.”

AS  has been pursuing an insurgency against the Somali government for more than 16 years, frequently targeting security forces, officials, and civilians.

Monday November 10, 2025 (HMC)   Somali National Army (SNA) Commander, General Odowa Yusuf Rageh, on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of the 6th Battalion under the 60th Division of the SNA Ground Forces in Barawe, Lower Shabelle region.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Rageh said the completion of the new facility is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the army’s capacity and leadership structure, aimed at enhancing coordination and improving security operations across Lower Shabelle and the wider southern regions.

“The 6th Battalion under the 60th Division is part of the ongoing joint military operations with local communities against al-Shabaab,” General Rageh said. “The government is committed to providing all possible support to boost the morale and operational capacity of our national army.”

The Somali National Army continues to reinforce security, rebuild command centers, and consolidate gains made in the fight against terrorism to ensure lasting peace and stability throughout the country.

Monday November 10, 2025 (HMC)  Somali Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation has called for an immediate and unconditional end to clan-related violence and revenge killings, urging security agencies to act swiftly against those inciting bloodshed and division across the country.

In a statement issued on November 9, 2025, the ministry condemned the recent surge in clan conflicts, describing the violence as deeply contrary to Islamic values and Somali cultural traditions.

“The ministry strongly opposes killings, targeting, and in general any violence against the Islamic religion and Somali culture,” the statement read.

The appeal comes amid renewed inter-clan fighting in parts of Galgaduud and Lower Shabelle regions, where tensions have escalated in recent weeks. The most recent incident occurred Sunday in Wanlaweyn district, where an elderly man was reportedly tortured and burned to death in a revenge attack that shocked the nation.

The ministry urged regional administrations, traditional elders, scholars, and women’s groups to take a leading role in defusing tensions and promoting reconciliation. It called for collaborative peacebuilding efforts aimed at preserving “the unity and solidarity of the Somali people.”

The ministry extended condolences to the families of those killed in the ongoing violence. “We pray to God to grant the souls of those who lost their lives in the fighting to rest in peace and to grant their families patience and faith,” the statement said, reaffirming the ministry’s “commitment to continuing efforts for peace and reconciliation throughout the country.”

The government’s latest appeal underscores growing concern over recurring clan disputes, which continue to undermine local governance and national stability despite years of reconciliation initiatives.

Monday November 10, 2025 (HMC) Four young siblings, all under the age of ten, were burned to death early Sunday morning after their father allegedly locked them inside their home and set it ablaze in the October neighborhood of Ahmed Dhagax district, authorities said.

Firefighters and witnesses described a horrific scene as flames engulfed the small house, trapping three boys and a girl inside. Their father, identified by neighbors only as Hamse, was reportedly seen leaving the burning home moments after setting it on fire.

“We saw the house on fire,” one witness told MMTV. “I said, ‘Hamse, get the children out of the house,’ but he replied, ‘Leave us alone,’ and then walked away.”

According to the Somaliland Fire and Rescue Service, the suspect was arrested by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers while attempting to flee the scene. The fire brigade confirmed that the father had been in a legal dispute with his wife over their children. Only a breastfeeding infant, who was with her mother at the time, survived the blaze.

Neighbors said the couple had appeared in court earlier that morning. “The woman and the man were in court together,” said one resident. “They had just discussed the issue, and those were the children who burned later that day.”

Deeqa, another neighbor, said no one realized the children were trapped until it was too late. “We didn’t know they were alone. We heard them crying, but the fire had already spread from below. The oldest was eight,” she said.

Authorities transported the children’s bodies to Hargeisa’s main hospital as investigators continued to probe the circumstances surrounding the case.

In a statement, Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed Hassan (Sawaxili), commander of the Somaliland Fire and Rescue Service, expressed his sorrow. “We share our deepest condolences with the bereaved family,” he said. “May God grant them comfort and peace.”

Former Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi also issued a message of condolence, calling the tragedy “a rare and shocking event that has shaken the entire community.” He extended his sympathy to the family and the nation, urging calm and compassion as authorities investigate.

The case has ignited public outrage in Hargeisa, where domestic disputes rarely end in such violence. Police say they are working to determine what drove the father to commit an act that has left the city in mourning.

Monday November 10, 2025 (HMC)– Somalia’s Parliament has unanimously approved a revised anti-piracy and anti-kidnapping law, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s maritime security and modernizing legislation first enacted on April 30, 1975.

All 140 members present voted in favor of the bill, with no opposition or abstentions, reflecting a unified stance by lawmakers on the critical importance of addressing piracy, which has seen a resurgence along Somalia’s coastline.

“This is a historic day for Somalia,” he said. “The unanimous support reflects our shared commitment to ending piracy and ensuring our waters remain safe for all,” the Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow said.

The approval comes in the wake of several recent pirate attacks, including a case involving a Malta-flagged vessel en route to South Africa, which was later rescued by an EU Naval Forces ship.

The revised law is expected to strengthen Somalia’s ability to combat maritime crimes and enhance cooperation with international partners and organizations working to ensure security and safety in global waterways.

Officials say the new framework will help safeguard Somalia’s coastal communities and protect one of the world’s most strategic maritime corridors a vital route for global trade connecting the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
