Saturday 4 Oct , 2025 {HMC} The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh today presented to the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia the first reading of the IDP Bill.

The Minister briefed members of the Upper House on the objectives and key provisions of the Bill, emphasizing that it represents a significant step by the Federal Government and the Federal Member States toward addressing the challenges of internal displacement across the country.

Saturday 4 Oct , 2025 {HMC}  The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today launched a major plan to reopen 52 roads in the capital that had been closed for the past 15 years due to security concerns.

The Prime Minister said the reopening reflects the significant progress made in improving Mogadishu’s security, making road closures no longer necessary.

“Over the past 15 years, tough circumstances forced the closure of these roads. The real solution, however, is not to close roads but to defeat terrorism and eliminate the threat it poses,” he said.

Prime Minister Hamza noted that the DanQaran government has made great efforts to strengthen security in the capital by enforcing laws to prevent the possession of heavy weapons and other activities that could endanger public safety.

He commended the security agencies, the Benadir Regional Administration, and the residents of Mogadishu for their cooperation, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility requiring everyone’s contribution.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud officially opened the Somalia–U.S. Presidential Trade Summit in Mogadishu, a landmark event aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and attracting foreign investment across key sectors in Somalia.

In his opening address, President Hassan Sheikh described the summit as an important milestone marking Somalia’s transition from aid dependency to partnership and innovation, positioning the country as “a new frontier for American and global investment, boosting local creativity and private sector growth.”

The President reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing trade relations with friendly nations, particularly the United States, to drive sustainable development and create new job opportunities for Somali youth.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar, noted that Somalia is now ready to attract global investments, highlighting promising opportunities in energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and fisheries.

Somalia’s Ambassador to the United States, Tahir Hassan Abdi, said fifteen American-owned companies are participating in the summit, reflecting growing international confidence in Somalia’s business environment.

Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Abdirahman Batan Warsame, underscored Somalia’s significant potential in the energy sector — particularly in electricity, renewable energy, and water — and encouraged U.S. investors to explore these opportunities and contribute to the country’s development.

The summit underscores ongoing efforts to build a strong economic partnership between Somalia and the United States, promoting shared growth, innovation, and long-term prosperity.
