General Sahal praised the bravery and sacrifices of these local fighters, commending their recent victories against the enemy and their unwavering commitment to protecting their communities. He assured them of the government’s continued support, providing both logistical assistance and supplies while closely monitoring their situation on the ground.

The Middle Shabelle region has become a hotspot for intensified military operations, with joint forces achieving significant gains against the militants. Recent offensives have resulted in the elimination of several fighters and key commanders, marking another step forward in Somalia’s ongoing fight against terrorism.

Saturday 22,March 2025 {HMC} Somali government has welcomed the Sudanese Armed Forces’ capture of the presidential palace in Khartoum, hailing it as a major milestone in the country’s efforts to restore sovereignty following two years of civil conflict with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a statement released Friday, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed solidarity with Sudan and praised the “immense sacrifices” made by the Sudanese people and armed forces.

“Somalia views these sacrifices as a continuation of Sudan’s long-standing struggle and its proud historical legacy in defending national sovereignty and rejecting foreign interference,” the statement read.

The Somali government also urged all Sudanese factions to unite around shared national goals and accelerate efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace, progress, and prosperity.

Sudan’s military victory on Friday marked one of its most symbolic gains since launching a counteroffensive against the RSF in September 2023. Troops recaptured the presidential palace in central Khartoum, sparking celebrations among army supporters across the country.

Although the RSF still controls parts of southern Khartoum, it has lost significant ground since the civil war erupted in April 2023. The palace capture comes just days after RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo released a video urging his fighters to hold their positions and not surrender the site.

Saturday 22,March 2025 {HMC}  Security forces in Baardheere town shot and killed a suspected Al-Shabaab member on Friday evening as he allegedly attempted to carry out an assassination during Iftar, according to local authorities.

District Security Chief Ahmed Abdullahi said the suspect, armed with a pistol, exchanged gunfire with security personnel after being intercepted. He was killed during the confrontation but injured two civilians who were among a group breaking their fast nearby.

“The assailant, whose information we had received, was planning to commit an assassination at a place where civilians were breaking their fast. When he was arrested, he tried to resist with a pistol, and the soldiers neutralized him. Unfortunately, the bullet he fired injured two people,” said Commander Abdullahi.

The injured civilians were taken to Baardheere Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect but confirmed he was linked to the Al-Shabaab militant group.

Commander Abdullahi added that security forces in the district remain vigilant and prepared to counter any threats posed by Al-Shabaab, a group designated as a terrorist organization by Somalia, the United States, the United Nations, and several other countries.

Al-Shabaab has not commented on the incident. The group frequently targets civilians, government officials, and security forces in its insurgency against Somalia’s federal government.

Saturday 22,March 2025 {HMC}  Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held meetings with local officials, elders, and intellectuals in Adale district on Friday to strengthen collaboration and accelerate military operations against Al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle region.

The president emphasized the need for unified support behind the Somali National Army (SNA) as it intensifies efforts to eradicate the militant group from the region. He praised local communities’ resilience and urged continued cooperation to ensure lasting peace and security.

“The support of local leaders and intellectuals remains vital in mobilizing communities and ensuring the success of our national forces,” President Mohamud said.

Elders and intellectuals commended the president’s direct involvement in the frontline campaign and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the government and security forces. The meeting resulted in an agreement to enhance coordination between the military and local communities to maintain momentum in the counterterrorism campaign.

President Mohamud, accompanied by senior military commanders, is spending his second night in the Adale district. His visit follows recent stops in the Moqokori and Adan Yabaal districts as he continues to assess battlefield progress and prepare for the next phase of operations.

The Somali government has recently stepped up military pressure in central and southern regions, aiming to reclaim Al-Shabaab-held territories and restore civilian governance.
