Somali FM Participates in AU Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in Malabo.

Thursday 10 , July 2025 {HMC} The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, participated on Thursday in the 7th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting between the African Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and Regional Mechanisms (RMs), held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, from July 10 to 13.

During the high-level gathering, the Minister joined deliberations of the AU Ministerial Committee on Candidatures within the International System. Somalia chaired this committee in 2024, a period marked by progress in promoting Africa’s common positions on the global stage.

Somalia’s active engagement in the committee aligned with its historic election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2025 to 2026 term, a milestone that highlights the country’s growing diplomatic stature and its steadfast commitment to multilateral cooperation.

Minister Abdisalam’s participation in the Malabo meeting reflects Somalia’s continued dedication to promoting Africa’s shared priorities and reinforcing the continent’s unified voice in international affairs.
