Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Lays Foundation Stone for National Curriculum Development Center

Tuesday 21 april 2026 {HMC}Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, has officially laid the foundation stone for a new Curriculum Development Center, a major step aimed at improving the quality of education across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of national progress and a critical driver for building a prosperous future. He noted that the Federal Government of Somalia is prioritizing the modernization and advancement of the education sector as part of its broader development agenda.

“A quality curriculum is the foundation of education, and this center will be an important place for developing the knowledge of the younger generations,” said Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

The establishment of the Curriculum Development Center forms part of the government’s wider efforts to strengthen social services, particularly education, while contributing to long-term economic development. The initiative aims to build a knowledgeable and skilled society capable of adapting to global changes and emerging opportunities.

Prime Minister Hamsa further highlighted that the center will serve as a vital link between educational institutions and students, ensuring that learning systems are aligned with the country’s future needs and development priorities.

He also underscored the government’s commitment to restoring and utilizing public infrastructure effectively, calling on citizens to vacate government-owned properties to allow for their proper use in delivering public services.
