Saturday November 29, 2025 {HMC} Danab Commandos and Jubbaland’s Dervish forces conducted a planned operation on Thursday night, killing a senior Al-Shabaab leader in the Jamaame district of the Lower Jubba region.
A statement issued by the Jubbaland administration on Friday said the operation specifically targeted Al-Shabaab militants and resulted in the killing of a commander identified as Farah Jibriil, along with seven of his bodyguards.

“This operation, part of ongoing efforts to enhance security in the region, eliminated the most prominent Al-Shabaab leader in the area, Farah Jibriil, and seven others who had long inflicted hardship and oppression on local communities,” the Jubbaland administration said.
According to the statement, the militant leader was killed after an extended pursuit by the forces, who ultimately succeeded in neutralizing him.
Officials from the Danab Commandos and the Jubbaland Dervish forces said such operations will continue until Al-Shabaab is completely removed from the region.
“Other planned operations are underway to ensure peace and security for the public, targeting all remaining hideouts of the Khawarij militias,” the statement added.
The latest operation comes as government and Jubbaland forces intensify their third week of coordinated offensives around the Jamaame district, aiming to liberate the area, which has long remained under Al-Shabaab control.
